    Re: question on markers

That's an interesting solution. There are a few problems that would affect its usefulness, though. A fair number of albums don't have track times listed, so this method would be out for them. I've also found that the times listed sometimes don't match the actual time of the selection and this is on CD's! Unless it's a direct drive quartz lock unit, your turntable is also a factor.

I find going to the CD Prep option and letting the program place the markers very easy. The only time it has problems is on live albums where one track segues into another, usually with applause in between. Usually I can easily spot the marker positions visually. I set the markers looking at the entire file, then zoom in on each to set them more accurately.

I do the same thing Doug does - just let the program find the spaces, then highlight and zoom in a fairly small area around where it puts them.
When converting from live tapes, where there's continuous sound, just look at the wave file patterns and zoom in where you see drops. It's best to play a bit before and after you place the markers so you can make certain they are in the spots you need them. Timings wouldn't work very well even for albums because if you're off one of them, all the others that follow would get off.

        Mikron -

If I understand your first question correctly, to reset the time on the marker, all you have to do is put your mouse on the marker, left press & hold, and move it.

It works best if you zoom in to the area first so you can see clearly.

thanks for both suggestions i am going to look more into them ,but i have tried to expand the focus ,some of the music has no drops in the sound its rather a change in pitch , i have found using the option find mark silent passage ,cannot find anything or finds way to many no mater what the threshhold is.

You can also adjust the time paramater which may improve the discrimination factor of the algorithm on the particular material that you are dealing with.

Just a short comment for Doug & Dan. I do the same marker routine - with a difference. Why let the program do it then zoom in and fine tune. I zoom in at the outset and set my markers manually - one operation!
