Here is another potential tip - - -
On a few physically distorted LPs, I have transferred them at 16 RPM (which is actually 16.66 rpm).
I have at times, neutralized the tone arm via its counterweight and used a penny on the head shell to provide the best tracking ability. Sometimes, placing another record or two below the one being played helps too.
After the transfer, then I just use the Speed Change filter to correct things back up to 33.33 rpm.
