  • Redacting Forensics Audio Files

Often, it is necessary for law enforcement to redact portions of an audio file for legal reasons. This is commonly done using the Paste Bleep function in the Diamond Cut Forensics8.5 software (or the DC8.5 software). It is accomplished by doing the following:

    1. Highlight the area of the file in need of redaction.

    2. Goto the Edit/Paste (bleep) and click it. (Alternatively, use Ctrl B)

    3. The highlighted portion of the file will be replaced with a bleep tone.

    4. This process is "undoable" (found in the Edit Menu) (or Ctrl U)
