    Often, folks transferring Edison Cylinders use a microphone or set of microphones set up in front of the old player. A better (albeit more expensive) method involves direct use of a reproducer that creates a direct electrical set of signals from the record. Here is a link to such a device:

    This set up is compatible with Diamond Cut Audio Software. If an RIAA preamp is used, then you can reverse the RIAA curve with the Virtual Phono Preamplifier. Then, you can extract the vertical component of the stylus displacement with the File Conversion Filter (Stereo to Mono L-R).
