  • Intentionally Creating a "Grunge" effect

One of several way to create a "Grunge" effect on an audio file, particularly on Rock 'n Roll is to use "Normalize Gain Scaling" (found under the CD Prep Menu, with its control set to a value greater than 0 dB. It's range goes up to +9.9 dB, and the greater the dB value that you chose, the stronger will be the Grunge effect. Another way to accomplish Grunge is via the Virtual Valve Amplifier operating in Full Range mode with a very high level of drive and also a high level of mix coupled with lower values of "detail". A combination of the two techniques will give you even greater degrees of this effect (inter-modulation distortion and clipping).
