Over the years, I have learned a few tricks pertaining to audio restoration. One trick involves 1930s vintage 78s. I perform all the normal restoration steps first (flat transfer, Virtual Phono Preamp EQ, EZ Impulse Filter, and then the application of the CNF.
Here is how I add just a little "sparkle" to the final restoration of 1930 vintage 78s. I bring up the 10 Band Graphic EQ and click the "reset all levels" button. Then, I bring up the 4000 Hz band slider around 3 to 4 dB. That provides just enough extra boost near the extremities of these old recordings top end to provide a very pleasing presence or what I call "sparkle". Give it a try - - - it can't hurt since you can just preview it and listen to the results and decide if it is for you.
