Theodore Edison (Thomas Edison's youngest son) ran his own company after his dad passed. It was called "Calibron Laboratories" and Theodore achieved something like 45 patents in his own right under his company. They did a lot in the area of military radar, including developing a scheme using three synchronized and triggered generators to create alpha-numerics on cathode ray tubes (keep in mind that this was before ASCII as we see to day in the digital world). Tricky stuff.
