  • Clapping Attenuator (De-Clapper)

Audience recordings in large venues often suffer from the proximity effect of clapping near the recorder. There are several approaches to this problem using the software. First, try using the EZ impulse filter - - - the scratch and crackle controls will have a good shot at reducing clapping noise close to the recorder (adjust their sliders for the best results). If that does not prove effective, try using the Dynamics Processor in compressor mode (no check-boxes checked). Adjust the threshold slider for best results as well as the attach and release (fast attach - - slower release). Lastly, you can use the manual interpolator (I key) to properly proportion the large clap impulses. Just highlight the pulses and hit the I key.
