  • USB and HDMI - Mechanical Clash

Many computers have both USB and HDMI connectors. They look quite similar and we know of folks who inadvertently mistake the two for each other. Both the electrical and mechanical aspects of these two interface connectors and standards are completely different. The warning is that forcing the wrong cable into the wrong connector on your computer can cause significant damage, so never force such a connector. It the cable is resisting insertion, it is possible that you are putting the wrong type of cable into the wrong interface jack. So, be careful when connecting up to either of these connectors.

USB = Universal Serial Bus. HDMI = EIA / CEA-851 (High Definition Multimedia Interface).

Forcing would require a lot of force?

        Marc,

Not sure how much force it would take since I did not run the experiment. But, someone did do that and broke their computer.
