The Diamond Cut Productions Audio Restoration Software has two editing modes from which to chose. You can toggle between the two by way of the FE icon on the toolbar. One editing mode (Fast Edit) works directly on the opened source file. The other editing mode (Classic Edit) creates a new file in the Destination workspace for each filtering step that you use. Fast Edit does create a .ses file with a report of the history of the edits. The Classic Edit create a new .wav file for each filtering step. Classic Edit uses more disk space than Fast Edit, but leaves you with a direct history of each filtering step which is desirable in the world of Forensics Audio for historical evidence reasons.
Craig
ps - Fast Edit (FE) mode behaves similar to a word processor since the edits and filters are applied directly to the open file.
