Description: This is an Ampex Tape Deck Assembly taken from a 1/4 track Reel to Reel tape deck. The photo shows two of the three heads that are included with this assembly. Shown in the pic are the erase and playback head; the recording head is included, but is not physically attached (right now) to the head assembly. These heads were never used (no wear) because the tape deck came in for repair following a fire at a warehouse circa 1968. Part of the machine was damaged in the fire (water damage) making the machine beyond repair. But, the machine was new and still in the box when I got it to work on. I declared the machine to be beyond repair, but I stripped the heads and head assembly out of the machine before discarding the rest of it. I do not remember the model number, but it was a high-end model. The tape heads all have proper coil continuity and literally show no surface wear at all.
