  • Casette Tape Slipping

    I am restoring a casette tape, that has a slight "warble" in several places, it sounds as if the tape was not wound tightly, and "slipped" past the "head". I've tried to manually interpolate (hoping it might work), but the section is longer than it sounds.

    Anybody have any suggestions?

    Is the tape "dropping out" or is it changing speed when this problem occurs?

      It's not really dropping out, it's hard to explain, it's more like a loose pressure pad, letting the tape "jerk", or quick "slip" over the tape head; more like the tape transport does not maintain the correct tension (mostly noticed when tape starts).
