  • Pencil Editing

One of the features included in the DC Live/Forensics software is "Pencil Editing"; this gives me the thought that no waveform should contain a sharp rise or fall.

Is the main reason for "Pencil Editing" to smooth, or round off the sharp peaks contained in the waveform; if not, what would one use this feature for?

My hands are a little too shakey to draw lines with the Pencil Editor; so, I usually manually interpolate any sharp peaks, especially those in a noisy area.

    Hi,

A while back, some people told us that they can draw interpolated waveforms better than any mathematical routine can (I am dubious about that). Anyway, we provided that feature for those folks. Personally, I used the pencil edit tool to create noise so that I can test our algorithms.
