Is it possible to select which drive you want to use to rip or burn? I can only rip with the internal drive on my laptop.The external usb drive is not recognized.

Hi,
I have heard that some external drives do not seem to be compabible with the system. Can you tell us what the drive brand and model is and perhaps somebody here will recognize it and be able to take a stronger position on this.
