  • LP Recording Question(s)

Sorry if these are obvious, but I'm just starting with the program.

I recorded my first LP, and the setup is turntable to CTP-1000 w/switch set to "line" to sound card line in. The DC7 Virtual Preamp is set to "flat preamp" and "LP/RIAA."

The question is: does the software apply the RIAA curve at this point, or do I need to run the RIAA filter? My ears tell me the latter.

If so, is this the first filter I should run before doing any de-clicking, etc.?

    Thanks, Eric

Short answer is that you should apply the RIAA curve. If you are using a flat preamplifier to transfer an RIAA encoded LP, then you need to run the RIAA curve in the VPP (virtual phono preamp) before proceeding to other signal processes.

Thanks. I have to say so far I'm pretty impressed with what DC7 can do. Once I get a handle on doing my LPs, which are actually in pretty good shape, then I'll start with the 78s. I'll save my Paramounts for last....
