  • Signal to Noise Ratio

Sorry for such maybe obvious question.
How to measure the signal to noise ratio with the DCF?
I have tried to find the value of the strongest part of the signal and the weakest one but it doesn't give reliable results only approximate calculation.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanx

There are several methods that can be used. Here is probably the best method. Bring up the Spectrum Analyzer. Put the Display Mode into "Averaging". Then, play the entire song into the analyzer and let it integrate up the signals to create a nice graphical representation of the recordings signal plus noise. Take a screen shot of that graph. Clear that graph. Next, find a sector of the song with only noise and play that noise in "Loop Play". Let that integrate up. That is the noise only portion. Take a screen shot of that graph. Subtract the noise portion of the graph from the signal plus noise on graph paper. Then, the ratio of the signal / noise can be plotted.

To make it a little easier, read about the memory function in the spectrum analyzer which you may find to be useful for this measurement.
