  • Win10 Needs Something Plugged into the input jack

It seems that Win10 will not recognize an audio input source that does not have something plugged
into the jack, even thought Win7 did. We also had to mess with the audio input selection to get the right one. For example a new selection showed up when we plugged a microphone into the input jack.

I suspect that a laptop with a built in microphone will behave differently than a tower computer in this regard, although I am not positive.

The error produced by Windows10 when nothing is plugged into the input while attempting to record audio is something like this:

ERROR. An error occured setting up the recording hardware.
