  • Integrated Audio

I was considering a new computer and the one I am looking at has "Integrated Audio" - I was wondering if there were any implications for transferring analog to digital (good or bad) with such a system. Would anyone know?

Dan - the only problem with "integrated audio"
is the lack of quality. The software should recognize the chipset on the motherboard and allow you all functionality but according to how discerning a listener you are you may not be satisfied with the results.

Thanks, Hop. Would it be better to disable the integrated audio and put in a soundcard? I do a lot of analog -> cd work and need the best quality I can get (within reason). What sort of characteristics should I look for in "good" integrated audio?

        Re: Integrated Audio

Sorry for the late response Dan, I was away for a while.

Absolutely it would be better to disable the integrated audio. I see Diamondcut is now advertising select sound cards on their website and I would highly recommend any of them. Just remember the general rule - you pay for what you get!

        Good luck.
