I have some open-reel tapes recorded at7.5 i.p.s. Is there any advantage to transferring to wave files at 3.75, then using the speed change function to set them right?

I recall that half-speed mastering was a "premium" aspect of some LPs in the 80s, but was wondering if that is only advantage if you are transferring from (or to) records.

I can see the mechanical advantage to half speed mastering for LP's. As for tapes, I suspect that the effect is not significant. In fact, the equalization may get messed up by using such a process.

Thanks, Craig. I couldn't think of any advantage, but figured you'd know if there was one.
