  • Dcart 10.80 issues under WINE on Xubuntu 24

    Hello:

I'm migrating to xubuntu and Dcart runs pretty well, except for one niggling issue. When I try to save as... Dcart throws an unxepected error "WineDbg attached to pid 011c"

Here's is a brief snip of the detail error message.
"Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 in wow64 32-bit code (0x0047428d).
    "System information:
    Wine build: wine-10.0
    Platform: x86_64 (guest: i386)
    Version: Windows 10
    Host system: Linux
    Host version: 6.8.0-55-generic"

It will sometimes throw this error if I try to "play from here", but every time I try to save as...
When I process a file, I can make the destination the source, but I cannot save destination as... without throwing this error.

The source file seems to be saved after each edit, like I can interpolate an scratch and it will not be there when the source is opened again, but the saving as will not work,

Thanks in advance for any direction.

Does it behave the same in FE (Fast Edit) mode as it does in in Classic mode?

Yes, that causes the same error. I tried on another Xubuntu install using 10.70 and wine 9.0, as installed, and it threw the same error.

I guess that the software is not compatible with Linux. You could try the latest version DCArt11.04 found as the demo on our webpage (www.diamondcut.com). It used a different compiler.

          Craig:

My thoughts, too, given another user has it working in Mint. I have used DCart in Xubuntu, tho, for direct recording via the USB using the above mentioned laptop.
          Thanks for your replies.

um...no, oddly enough. As soon as I do a "save source as", ver 11 crashes WINE. Maybe it's the Xcfe desktop environment, Mint uses GNOME. I would not have thought that would change the file system instructions, it's all Ubuntu underneath. I don't know enough about this to really know. I'll have to boot into Windows and do my audio editing, one reason for dual boot.

          Thanks again.
