Wind chime like sound

I am comverting my piles of vinyl to digital with reasonable success. One recuring problem is that when removing surface noise using the continuous noise filter sampled from a non music part of the disk a chiming sound is introduced. This appears to be in the about 4000Hz range .
Any knowledge would be appreciated.

To me, that would indicate that the attenuation control is set to agressively or the attack time may be set to short. This problem should be easily fixed by experimenting with those two paramaters.
