How important is it to remove the "DC-offset" voltage from the recorded wave file? I have noticed that some feel it is very important and others seem to dismiss it.

What is it and what would be the proper way to remove it using DC32?

    Thanks,
    Ron

    Re: DC-offset

DC Offset can be removed by running the High Pass Filter set to about 20 Hz with a 6 db/Octave slope. I would imagine that DC Offset problems would only occur when a low cost - poor quality (or defective) sound card is used. A good sound card should not produce any significant dc component. If there is a dc offset component, the clip point of the signal will be asymetrical, limiting the useful dynamic range of the system. For maximum headroom and dynamic range, it is best to have a sound card that does not produce this anamoly to begin with.
