  • Posey Rorer and the North Carolina Ramblers

    Here is our latest release:
Posey Rorer and the North Carolina Ramblers

    Unreleased Edison Laterals Seven

Posey Rorer was an influential old-time fiddler and a key member of the early string band movement, best known as a founding member of the North Carolina Ramblers. The Ramblers, also known as “Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers,” helped shape the old-time and early country music traditions during the 1920s and early 1930s.
When Rorer was in New York he recorded tracks on various record labels including Edison. Best as we can tell, the artists on these Edison recordings were Posey Rorer on fiddle, Matt Simmons on guitar and Frank Miller on vocals.

This album is from the unreleased Edison laterals collection of electrically recorded discs. These recordings were made in 1928 and 1929 and restored by Marc S. Hildebrant (tracks 1-10) and Craig Maier (track 11) using DCart11.
