    Hi,

    In the lower right hand side of the open dialog box is a selector. You can set it for .wav, or .mp3, etc up to "All Files". So, you can adjust that to your preference. If the file type is not known, try using "All Files" and the program will figure it out automatically and open the file after converting it to .wav.
