  • Clipping of highs when using "Normalise" in DC11

I have a recurring problem with DC11, whenever I record an vinyl, before splitting the file into tracks, I like to normalize the file as a whole to a -0.3db. With DC11, it always tends to clip the highs, sometimes drastically. I have gotten use to using DC8 to normalize and chop after doing my editing and track markers in 11.

Soundwise, I don't really notice the clipped waveform, so I wonder if it is just the peak file being displayed incorrectly.

I just installed version 11.09, hoping this clipping behavior has been fixed. I uploaded photos of what I am experiencing. Basically, I normalize scale the whole LP side recording to a -0.3dB and click "Yes" on the "Save to Undo" prompt. It consistently clips the highs on every file I try. When I try to Edit/Undo the file does not return to the original but stays with the clipped file.

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? Is the file too large for an UNDO?

    Thanks

That looks like the preamp is clipping. Are you using a ceramic cartridge into a magnetic cart. input? At any rate, the de-clipper may help the signal, but be yet would be to install an attenuator in the record signal parthway having at least 6 dB attenuation. Even better yet, us a mag cartridge.
